Opened in February 1981
In those early days we sold lots of Art
Norman was a picture framer and our walls were covered with paintings and framed prints
2 weeks after opening a man came into the shop and said I think I would like to buy that engraving. He told me he was on a university reunion so I asked after all those years what do you do now. He said I'm an editor I asked what do you edit he said the Sunday Times, it was Harold Evans a very famous editor
and he bought a rare Carmichael engraving of Durham

another day a really nice lady very well dressed came in and was very complimentary she thought the shop was charming, after she and her younger companion left with a few gifts all wrapped up, a young student said to me did you know that was Norrah Batty that you were talking to... and I hadn't had a clue even though I knew the name.
